Casa Chorizo
This chapter presents the history and development process of casa chorizo. It then addresses changing trends in architecture and urban design of casa chorizo. The chapter is also an ideal resource for urban planners, housing developers, builders, and housing trust professionals. Borrowing explicitly in its original form from the Roman casa pompeiana, the casa chorizo of Buenos Aires combines academic reference with adaptability and pragmatism. The urban topography of Buenos Aires is based on the relationship between the river, the city and the surrounding plains. A densification process also occurred in San Telmo, one of the oldest districts in the south of Buenos Aires. The spatial arrangement of the casa chorizo is based on the division of a classical courtyard house into two halves along its length.
