Social, Economic, and Political Dimensions of Water Harvesting Systems in Germany: Possibility, Prospects, and Potential
This chapter discusses the role and types of technological, historical, political, or legal developments of water harvesting systems in Germany within the context of water reuse, the responsibility for cultivating enduring and sustaining freshwater resources. Water resource management are essential for global and national management capacities and to promote sustainability. Water reuse in the form of water harvesting is important for smart blue‐green city development and public human health. German daily water consumption levels have been considered in depth and German citizens’ consumption of water is lower than nearly all other European nations. Water reuse in the form of water harvesting is one of the most urgent management and technological interdisciplinary challenges. Water harvesting technologies can help to transform urban as well rural water reuse methods while ensuring sustainability in the water cycle. Encouraging stakeholder engagement in water conservation, water harvesting, and sustainable water use helps Germany to become a world leader in sustainability.
