Managing Value Study Teams
This chapter addresses the role of the Value Study Leader in designing and implementing a value study. The chapter focuses on the important requirement of understanding and managing team dynamics and behaviour as part of this role. The chapter argues that a value study is not only about facilitating a workshop; it requires an understanding of team behaviour, development, dynamics and management during the three phases of Orientation and Diagnostics, Value Workshop, and Implementation. Expertise in facilitation is required during the Value Workshop phase but comprises only one set of a range of team management skills required throughout a value study. Chapter 5 discusses the theory and practice of facilitation, team behaviour, development, dynamics and management drawing from lessons learned from practice by the authors.
