AYRTON‐PERRY FORMULATION FOR THE BUCKLING RESISTANCE OF PRISMATIC BEAM‐COLUMNS
In this paper, the authors propose an Ayrton‐Perry type of equation for lateral‐torsional buckling of prismatic beams‐columns subject to axial compression and bending. Firstly, the analytical background of the method is summarized and then two alternative forms for its application are proposed. These two forms are also compared with a previously developed model based on the assumption that the axial force is fixed. The results obtained are in accordance with the analytical method described above and with numerical simulations (GMNIA).
