Committee Report: Accelerated testing of water meters
Water utilities are entitled to satisfy their own product requirements to determine whether the water meters they use comply with specified accuracy, material, and performance standards. However, the subject of endurance testing by utilities has not been addressed, and no guidelines have been recommended or provided to assist utilities with the development of a practical testing protocol. In this article, the authors report on the methods currently available to test and evaluate water meters at the manufacturer and utility level and offer guidelines to assist utilities in the process of product evaluation through the use of accelerated testing.
