Innovator, writer, educator and practising designer Kas Oosterhuis, who leads the multidisciplinary innovation studio ONL [Oosterhuis_ Lénárd], gives us a potted history of his urban inspirations – from architectural school with its preoccupation with linear urbanism and its speculative architecture precedents, to the great linear city being proposed in Saudi Arabia. The integration of computer technology has been crucial to ONL's substantial output and their quest for ‘real‐time’ architecture and city planning that interacts with its inhabitants and adapts its fabric and form accordingly.
