Precoat Vacuum Filtration and Natural‐Freeze Dewatering of Alum Sludge
Some treatment plants can lagoon their sludge; others may dump it into nearby water “repositories.” The Albany, N. Y., facility hasn't the land area for the former and has been enjoined from the latter. Solution to its problem boiled down to two possibilities: dewater by rotary‐vacuum precoat filtration or natural freezing. Here is an extended report on the first and a partial one on the second.
