Sustainability transformation
Sustainable buildings are now being designed with due consideration towards construction method and operation, while it is still on the drawing board. The expertise of builders and operators are capitalised in order to achieve an effective design. A green transformation of the buildings industry is a key to the success of implementing sustainable development. Since building involves a large number of various products and materials, life‐cycle assessment (LCA) can be used to provide an objective assessment and allow selection to be made in the design stage for a more sustainable development. The practice of sustainable building is a continuous process throughout the life cycle of a building, and requires all stakeholders to work in a collaborative manner. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a platform that provides digital transformation for the building industry and enables building usage data to pass through different life‐cycle phases of the development.
