Utopian Geometries: Turning Forms and the (Science) Fictions of Utopian Architecture
It is possible to give previous artworks by other artists a new lease of life as the prima materia for further artistic endeavour. Architects Clear + Park, based in West Yorkshire, have been doing just this with a sculpture by the renowned artist Barbara Hepworth – not by renovating or relocating it, but in an act of digital appropriation. Having 3D scanned it, they manipulated the point clouds produced, to create new forms, vectors and speculative interventions of their own originality.
