This chapter reviews the evolution of curation at Franklin Furnace Archive, Inc., a not‐for‐profit arts organization I founded in my living loft in Lower Manhattan on 3 April 1976. The purpose of Franklin Furnace was to sell, exhibit, and preserve artists’ books, with the intention to show equal numbers of women and men.
