In this article, the author discusses his views on the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Partnership for Safe Drinking Water program. The Partnership program gives utilities the tools to reduce the risk of cryptosporidiosis and other waterborne diseases in a nonregulatory framework. The author also discusses how the Partnership promotes performance optimization by focusing on what can be done with existing resources.
