A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Face to Face
This discussion examines how well the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) has met its intended goals. The drinking water program is almost two separate programs: one aspect of which is to bring the public water systems into compliance with regulations regarding the traditional contaminants of concern. That is a task of a different character than dealing with the new contaminants of concern, which led in great measure to the SDWA's being passed. Universal monitoring, training and source protection, information dissemination, establishment of MCLs, development of demonstration plants, spills, synthetic organic compounds, and giardiasis are problems covered.
