Project Organization
On the construction projects that supervisors manage they will encounter different types of contracts, and those contracts will have been formed through various types of project procurement methods. Construction projects, and the construction contractors who perform these projects, may also be categorized in terms of the type of work that is being performed. It may be built by means of a single contract system or a separate contracts system. The three basic methods by which the contract for construction may be awarded to a construction contractor are competitive bidding, negotiation, and competitive sealed proposals. This chapter talks about the project procurement and project delivery methods, and the forms of contract. The supervisor should also be familiar with the organizational relationships that exist among the people who are involved on a construction project.
