Conventional Lime Soda Ash Softening vs Split Treatment at the Owosso, Mich., Water‐Treatment Plant
In its 1970 expansion, Owosso adopted conventional lime–soda‐ash softening followed by recarbonation. The result: maintenance problems arose with sludge deposits in the recarbonation basin and the filter‐influent piping with substantial loss in filter efficiency index. In 1973 operation was changed from conventional to split treatment. Results were phenomenal.
