This article presents a discussion of the uses of water quality in several fields of interest, and outlines the kinds of research studies being done to satisfy major interests. The quality of natural water is discussed, along with water quality in areas such as public health, industry, agriculture, wildlife management, and water reuse. Geochemical research on water quality is discussed briefly.
