FURTHER DISCUSSION OF “CONSCIENTIOUS Particle Counting”
This discussion forum focuses on a December 1999 Journal AWWA article by Annika Van Gelder et al “Conscientious Particle Counting” and a critique of that article by Holger Sommer in the December 2000 Journal AWWA. In this discussion of the article, Letterman points out that the various light‐obscuration particle counters used in water treatment practice do not agree and may give count results that are lower than values from alternative counting methods such as electrical sensing zone instruments and visible light and electron microscopes.
