An Interview With Ted Schad
A boyhood interest in water and the college job of shelving books for Abel Wolman eventuated in employment with the Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation for Mr. Schad. Gravitating toward the planning side of bureau activities, he was soon involved in policy decisions and was appointed to the Bureau of the Budget as examiner of Corps' projects. Then as principal budget examiner for all federal water resources projects, he was selected to be the water resources expert for the Library of Congress.
Senator Kerr of Oklahoma chose Mr. Schad as staff director for the Senate Select Committee on National Water Resources. Subsequently he served as Executive Director of the National Water Commission from 1968 to 1973. He is currently executive secretary of the Environmental Studies Bd. (a joint creation of the National Academies of Science and Engrg). Mr. Schad is an Honorary Member of AWWA. AWWA Director Eric Johnsons questioning commences with Mr Schad's work for Senator Kerr.
