Building ICI Program Capacity in Small and Medium Utilities
This article discusses a collaborative effort by a group of water providers in Northern Colorado to build capacity in order to provide more robust water conservation services to their Industrial/Commercial/Institutional (ICI) customers. This group focused their efforts on three projects that would compile an aggregate database of ICI water‐use data from across the region; analyze these data and create preliminary benchmarks of end use in four priority sectors; and, create an online tool for ICI customers and managers that combines a simple assessment with benchmark data and other resources and tools. Future goals of the ICI collaborators are to increase the number and extent of records in the database, use the online tool in training and education, and increase the number and quality of end‐use benchmarks for this sector.
