Post‐Haussmannien House
This chapter presents the history and development process of post‐Haussmannien house. It then addresses changing trends in architecture and urban design of post‐Haussmannien house. The chapter is also an ideal resource for urban planners, housing developers, builders, and housing trust professionals. Today, Baron Haussmann's name has become synonymous with the monumental grandeur and architectural style of Second Empire Paris. In the case of the Plaine Monceau, the developers offered the city the land needed for the construction of the roads and adjusted their development plans around Haussmann's pre‐established street network. They were free to subdivide larger plots through the creation of secondary streets, as long as their plans were approved by the administration. Typical of the planning process under Haussmann is the public control and predominance in the design of the network of major streets and boulevards.
