Determination and assessment of fatigue stresses on concrete bridges
Dynamic loads reduce the load bearing capacity and the service life of structural components and constructions. This article discusses fatigue stresses and their effects on uncracked concrete structures using the example of concrete bridges. In standard proofs, a distinction is made between the stresses on and the resistance of structural components. Thus, first the determination of the damage‐equivalent stresses on constructions will be considered. Subsequently, the resistance of construction materials, structural components, and the whole construction has to be determined. Based on these input data for the verification, the load bearing capacity and service life under fatigue loading shall be assessed.
