Laboratory and Field Studies on the Treatment of Iron‐Bearing Waters
The purpose of this paper was to report on a joint investigation being carried out by the Sanitary Engineering Laboratory of the University of Illinois and the Illinois Department of Public Health. In one phase of the investigation, a pilot plant that was designed for both laboratory and field experiments, was used to study the fundamental factors that govern the removal of iron by oxygenation, sedimentation and flocculation, and filtration. This paper describes the design and construction of the pilot plant and the initial laboratory and field experiments.
