Fixtures and Fittings
A fixture can be classified as a component that is relevant to the overall design and dimensional aspects of the project. Fixtures and fittings are the interior and exterior components used to complete the conceptualization of the project. In typical architectural design, many of these components are not commonly added. Furnishings can be considered fittings in a way, in that they serve the same purpose and are equally likely to be placed within a project. The graphics associated with fixtures and fittings can be very complex in nature, and in many cases creating embedded objects will allow for more control using less components. Materials and finishes are a critical aspect of fixtures and fittings, as they are often selected based on their aesthetic. General fixtures and fittings carry dimensional information as well as materials and finishes used in the product.
