Managing Stakeholders
It is widely accepted that client is the most important agent within any construction project. However, it is crucial for the success of the architectural firm and its projects to also consider the interests and needs of a large number of other actors, be they active or passive stakeholders. This is best achieved through proactive stakeholder management, the third component of architectural management. Managing stakeholders includes a wide range of activities to manage interactions with the different types of stakeholder. This is fundamental to the co‐creation of design and to the delivery of best value for all project contributors. In this chapter we consider the essential what, why, when and how questions that relate to the architectural manager.
