Horizon Serono – Konstruktion des weltweit größten zu öffnenden Glasdaches und der darunterliegenden Forumfassade

Der Neubau eines Verwaltungsgebäudes für das Pharmaunternehmen Merck/Serono in Genf zeichnet sich durch hochtransparente Stahl‐Glas‐Konstruktionen in Fassade und Dach aus. Besonders hervorzuheben sind das zu öffnende Dach über dem sogenannten Forum sowie die darunterliegenden Fassadenkonstruktionen. Das ca. 1000 m2 große Forumdach ebenso wie die ca. 12 m hohen drehbaren Glastore und der außenliegende Sonnenschutz aus profilierten Edelstahlstäben tragen nicht nur wesentlich zur lichten, freundlichen Atmosphäre im Inneren bei, sondern sind auch wichtige Bestandteile des Klimakonzepts des Gebäudes. Horizon Serono – Engineering the world's largest openable glass roof.
The facades and the roof of the new administrative building of the pharmaceutical company Merck/Serono in Geneva/Switzerland feature a variety of highly transparent structures in steel and glass. Especially noteworthy is the openable roof over the so‐called Forum and the façade structures lying below it. The roof (with its 1,000 square meters one of the world's largest moveable structures in steel and glass) as well as the revolving doors (reaching a height of 11 m!) and the sunscreens made of moulded bars in stainless steel do not only make a major contribution to the bright, friendly atmosphere in the interior – they are also an important part of the building's climate concept. The following article gives a detailed description of the Forum's roof and facades.
