Monticello
The restoration of Monticello was undertaken using the extensive archive of written material available combined with archaeological research and Jefferson's own notes. These however did not furnish the complete story or provide all the answers at Monticello. Aspects of the restored landscape therefore may properly be termed an ‘evocation’ of Jefferson's innovative and inspirational garden. However, the solid foundations for future landscape preservation work at Monticello have been firmly laid.
