A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The final chapter looks at the future ‘water sensitive city’ which will be less wasteful of water, where monitoring of consumption will be more widespread. Much more water will be collected and recycled. The future water sensitive city will be low carbon with more green roofs and living walls. The city will be permeated with blue‐green infrastructure, which will include greener streets, urban farms, more nature and more outdoor activity. There will also be more recreational activity on what will become cleaner rivers. Climate change will present challenges for cities, in particular and sea level rises. Some cities will be abandoned and other will see profound change.
