Steel Plate Liner for Earthen Reservoir
This article discusses the construction of an earthen reservoir lined with steel plate, a material which is more appropriate to tank construction. Steel has not been widely used for the lining of earthen reservoirs; in fact, it is believed that this is the first use of steel on a freshwater reservoir of this type. The article discusses the reservoir site, in particular the permeability of the soil material, along with the advantages of using steel plate for the liner, the reservoir construction, expansion and contraction of the steel liner plates, and project costs.
