The Willamette—a river in peril
The future health of the river depends on actions taken today.
The overall health of the Willamette River is slightly better than marginal. The health of the river in the future depends on action taken today: it can be maintained or improved with active effort, or it can be allowed to decline. That picture emerged from the Willamette River Basin Water Quality Study. The five‐year study adapted established study methods and water quality models to a major river system. It was funded and carried out by a combination of agencies and stakeholders.
