Pile Integrity Testing
This chapter discusses the purpose and procedures of pile integrity testing, and the various types of tests. Integrity tests serve to control pile quality and geometry after pile installation. The tests discussed in the chapter are: low strain integrity tests, ultrasonic integrity testing, testing piles by core drilling, radiometric pile tests, multi‐channel low strain testing, and parallel seismic method. It also discusses induction and mise‐a‐la‐masse methods, and borehole‐based methods. In contrast to the low strain integrity test, for ultrasonic integrity tests no restricting limits exist regarding the testable pile length. Coring and tests on recovered cores, and on and within the borehole, can be carried out for the following reasons, which are listed in the chapter.
