The Congress has passed and the President has signed into law a bill calling for conversion in International System of Units (SI), metric measurement, in the U.S. Water utility management should be prepared for the installation and use of SI‐sized or calibrated materials as they become available and whenever there is an occasion to replace or install new facilities. The decision to adopt soft or hard conversion will be influenced by equipment and material suppliers, internal policies, manpower and financial resources available.
