A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr discusses the importance of quality improvement to water utilities and focuses on the QualServe program as a means to achieving that goal. QualServe was designed by utility personnel to assist utilities in identifying strengths and areas for improvement by self‐assessment, which allows a broad spectrum of the utility's employees to become involved in the improvement process. This has proven to enhance employee buy‐in and teamwork, which are essential any time change is involved. The peer review aspect of the program uses experienced personnel from other utilities to provide an objective and supportive perspective of operations and practices.
