Bioremediation of Agricultural Wastewater
Water is the basic requirement of every process on the planet Earth. Agriculture is the most important part of human life as it provides food to everyone. Water is required for the growth of food plants in agriculture. Agriculture wastewater nowadays has become a big problem. As water is a basic component of all operation in agricultural practices, its treatment is our significant concern. Pesticides, fertilizers and other chemical are used to maintain the health of crops and soil quality. These chemicals with runoff mix with the other water resource and become the reason for water pollution. Agriculture wastewater constitutes a high concentration of organic matter, nutrient material, a complex chemical compound which are required to treat before recycling. Biological processes are more efficient and eco‐friendly techniques to treat different types of wastewater. Bioremediation of agricultural wastewater includes anaerobic and aerobic treatment processes, riparian buffer process, phytoremediation, and constructed wetland process. This chapter elaborates the detail of sources of agricultural wastewater and biological treatment techniques.
