Elevatoring Low‐ and Mid‐Rise Buildings
In low‐ and mid‐rise office buildings, most of the people flow is handled by elevators, or people can use stairs. The selection of elevator group in an office building depends on the number of tenants, and the working hours in the building. The ISO design criteria are valid for a multitenant office building. In a single‐tenant office building or buildings with common meeting rooms on many floors, a lot of inter‐floor traffic can be expected. In addition to passenger elevators, office buildings have other transportation needs. In offices, hotels and commercial buildings, the traffic from the car park to the reception or main entrance floor is handled by separate elevator groups or escalators. In residential buildings, passenger elevators usually serve all floors including the parking area. In the parking area, the number of parking places is used as a basis for the peak traffic.
