A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Nanofluids for Water Treatment
Water has been identified as the most essential bioresources with the highest demand from mankind. However, there is still a limit to quality and portable drinking water. The rapid increase population of mankind has also increase the pressure to provide a more quality water in order to meet the demand of the ever increasing population. Therefore, there is need to search for a sustainable solution that will mitigates all the challenges of removing the high level of contaminants present in the water. The application of nanofluid could play a significant role in this regard. Hence, this chapter discusses extensively on the application of nanofluid as a sustainable bioremediation techniques for the treatment and purification of heavily contaminated water. Different types of nanofluids used in the treatment of water such as zero‐valent metal nanoparticles, metal oxides nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and nanocomposites were also highlighted. The application of informatics techniques as a technological platform for harnessing all information resources from the synthesis of the nanofluid to the application and subsequent evaluation of the fluids in water treatment were also highlighted.
