Analytical Characterization of Water‐Treatment‐Plant Sludge
Spark‐source mass‐spectrographic analysis was used to characterize samples of alum‐coagulated sludge at the water‐treatment plant in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The sludge solids contained a heterogenous mixture of materials, including organic and nonorganic compounds, soil, and fly‐ash particulates. Analyses showed the presence of many elements.
