Extensions are the backbone of SketchUp and should be included in any introduction of the program to new users. This chapter provides some explanations and procedures for using SketchUp Extensions. Extensions were formerly called plugins, scripts, and Ruby Scripts. The terms have all been officially consolidated into the term extensions by the SketchUp team. Many of the extensions on the extension warehouse website are developed by independent companies and individuals. There are three ways to install extensions. The three ways are by accessing the extension warehouse as demonstrated previously, by selecting SketchUp Preferences Extensions and by manually installing through Windows or Mac file folders. The SketchUcation Plugin Store is an essential extension. The more powerful terrain tools can be found only on SketchUcation. The chapter also presents a list of some useful extensions and where to find them.
