Die Zerstäubungstrocknung ist ein großtechnischer Prozess, der in unterschiedlichen Industrien eingesetzt wird, um pulverförmige Produkte herzustellen. Prozessanalytik und darauf basierende ‐steuerung der Zerstäubungstrocknung sind im Gegensatz zur hohen wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung dieses Herstellverfahrens aber nur rudimentär entwickelt. Am Beispiel der Trocknung von Polymerdispersionen werden die Komplexität des Verfahrens, die daraus resultierenden prozessanalytischen Aufgabenstellungen und bislang ungelöste Fragen diskutiert.
Spray drying is a commercial process applied in several industries to manufacture powdery products. Process analytics and control of spray drying is still in an infant state in contrast to the commercial importance of the production process. Process complexity of spray drying, resulting process analytical challenges as well as open topics will be discussed for the example of drying of polymeric dispersions.
