A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Most cities, towns, and sometimes villages have amenity societies. It is always a good idea for architects wishing to get planning permission for anything which could even loosely be termed a notable building to get the client’s agreement to arrange meetings with the local amenity society. As soon as one has some idea of the likely appearance of the building, that is the time to discuss the scheme with the society members. Obviously, the client will have to agree, but there are dividends to discussing proposals with amenity societies at an early stage at the very start of the design process. If the client has commodious premises which are the subject of the proposal and easily accessible, it could be a good idea to invite society members along to hear a presentation and have light refreshments available afterwards.
