Carbon Nanotubes as Corrosion Inhibitors
Considering materials with anticorrosion applications, carbon nanotubes (CNTs)‐based coatings are one of the most effective, inexpensive, and most environmentally friendly materials in recent times. To solve the adhesion problem, as well as to enhance anticorrosion capacity, CNT and polymer base composites are extensively applied in various aqueous acidic media. Because of their various beneficial properties, CNTs (SWCNTs and MWCNTs) and their derivatives (especially their composites) are extensively used for various metals/electrolytes systems. Techniques such as weight loss measurement and electrochemical analysis were extensively applied to study the efficient nature of CNT‐based inhibitors. Similarly, various surface analytical instruments also applied for the determination of changes found in the metal surface. In addition, experimental calculation‐based studies such as quantum chemical analysis and molecular simulation are applied to show correlation with experimental techniques.
