Ensuring System Reliability
This article describes how the Charlotte‐Mecklenburg Utilities in North Carolina improved the operability and dependability of their water system in order to significantly reduce both risks and costs. The article discusses the inspection and repair of the large water valves, which was the most immediate need, along with the importance of investing infrastructure upgrading and rehabilitation, and how using a geographic information system for accurate information and mapping allows a utility to plan and budget much more efficiently.
