In the last few years, smart city development projects have been among the top agendas of the government around the world. The reason behind the smart city project is the increasing focus on quality of life and concern for resource scarcity amid rising urban population. Smart cites development cannot be imagined without the use of technology. The core of smart cities includes smart mobility, smart parking, and smart housing projects. This chapter highlights global smart city initiatives and the issues related to the development of smart cities, including the technology involved. The chapter also showcases various solutions to the challenges raised regarding technological adoption and implementation in smart city projects.
