A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Coastal Structures
This chapter summarizes various categories of coastal structure including seawalls, rubble‐mound structures, slender‐member structures, large structures, floating structures, and flood control infrastructure. It describes methods to estimating wave loads on seawalls, slender‐member structures and large structures, the stability of rubble‐mound structures and related damage progression, and wave runup and overtopping of shoreline structures. The chapter also contains descriptions of the analysis of floating breakwaters and floating bridges and outlines other kinds of loads that may act on a coastal structure. The chapter concludes with a description of ocean‐related renewable energy infrastructure.
