A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Greenest City 2020, Vancouver
Vancouver is regarded by many people as one of the most livable cities around the world, thanks to its natural surroundings, strong environmental values, innovative economy, cultural diversity and its vibrant neighborhoods. Many challenges are actually facing the city, such as a growing population, climate uncertainty and rising fossil fuel prices. Moreover, the city is willing to implement different solutions to address the issue. For that, it addressed the Greenest City 2020 Action Plan (GCAP), in order to strengthen the community, create green jobs, increase the livability of the city, improve the well‐being of its citizens and lower its footprint. The GCAP is a strategy developed in order to keep up with urban sustainability and to realize a future resilient, healthy and prosperous city. The GCAP led the city to establish many urban transition projects, impacting the livability in the city and its resilience with regard to the challenges that it faces.
