Graphic Evaluation of Most Probable Numbers
As of this year (1965), 50 years have elapsed since McCrady laid the foundations for the application of statistical methods for the bacteriologic examination of water by the fermentation tube method. These methods furnished the basis for all further attempts, including those discussed in this article, to estimate coliform‐organism densities by inoculating different numbers of test tubes with different volumes of water.
