Aquatic‐Weed Decay and Color Production
Color organics are known to reduce the acceptability of surface waters for domestic water supply and to affect algal production. In this research it is shown that soluble organics identical to those found in colored acid bogs are produced as a byproduct during the decay of naturally occurring aquatic vegetation. Sufficient color may be provided from the decay of aquatic plants produced during a single growing season to stimulate algal growth.
