This article reports on efforts by DeKalb County (Ga.) to identify, measure, and reduce the amount of unaccounted‐for water. This information may help those with similar concerns and interests to realize that this type of effort can benefit customers. DeKalb County used methodical and logical analysis of data that reflected the county's experience as well as applied guidance from other studies and research to resolve the issue of unaccounted‐for water.
