A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This chapter first gives a brief introduction to wind‐induced vibration control methods. Various aerodynamic measures are then introduced for flutter control, vortex‐induced vibration mitigation and cable vibration mitigation. Different mechanical measures, including passive control systems, active control systems and semi‐active control systems, are also addressed for wind‐induced vibration control. Damping stay cables of a cable‐stayed bridge, using adjustable fluid dampers, is finally presented as a case study.
