A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
BRIDGE – ORANGE HEADQUARTERS – “EFFET WOW” CANTILEVER STRUCTURE
Orange's new headquarters is under construction in suburban Paris, to centralize company's services and welcome 3000 employees, currently scattered throughout the city. The architectural concept that aims for uniqueness, finds sometimes complex forms, highly conditioning of structural design. The building is mostly precast concrete, but several steel substructures are used to address the most structurally challenging areas. One of them is a two‐level roof cantilever described here. The article presents the technical challenges posed to the project team and some of the peculiarities of this composite steel structure.
