Smart and Digital City Action Plan, Montreal
There have been planning policies and plans adopted over the course of history which still remain as important and pivotal to a city's development today as it was in the past. One of the cities focusing on smart city and the digital infrastructure is the city of Montreal. Hailed as one of the world's leaders in smart cities (Intelligent Community 2016), its smart city action plan ranging from 2014 to 2017 aimed at overcoming urban issues in governance, social and physical issues in the form of socio‐political challenges, sanitation and public budget management. The plan sought to take advantage of the events organized in Montreal to construct and sustain a local network and an international niche market in the smart city economy and to draw inspiration from innovative initiatives.
