Since the number and severity of on‐the‐job accidents in the water utility industry exceed the figures for industry as a whole, safety programs for workers are increasingly important in terms of cost savings as well as employee morale. Costs that are not normally identified as injury expenses are more than sufficient to finance safety programs.
